Matthew Hopkins
President & Managing Director
Matthew Hopkins has over 25 years of investigative experience, from law enforcement, a national insurance carrier to private investigations. In January 1992, Matthew graduated the Ventura County Sheriff’s academy and worked as a patrol officer all through the 1990’s. By 2003, Matthew was the National Director of a Special Investigations Unit for Berkshire Hathaway.
For over eight years, he created and led a Major Case Unit of investigators in some of the most high-profile provider fraud investigations in California history. In addition, over 100 claimants were charged and convicted of insurance fraud. Several proactive strategies were implemented by Matthew to reduce overall claims costs, reduce malingering and successfully return injured workers to work sooner with compassionate care.
In 2012, Matthew took his national carrier claims experience to Argus West, becoming President and Managing Director. He is motivated to help the rest of the insurance industry with proactive strategies, not only at the claimant level, but with his extensive experience in provider fraud and abuse. Matthew’s success includes hundreds of providers being investigated, dozens of bulk settlements, lien consolidations and civil actions resulting in over $50 million in savings.
Matthew’s interests include playing poker, boating, camping and spending time with his wife and four children.
